On my mind lately #10 — Everything Shyusized

If there's one thing I can't get off my mind lately, it's anything related to contouring. I know I'm a few years late on this, but I've been really interested and intrigued by all the contouring techniques/products out there recently, maybe it's because I'm finally comfortable enough with my eye makeup so I want to start learning more about how to do other areas of my face, or maybe because my friend's wedding is a month away and I really, really want to be able to do a good job on my makeup for it, but regardless I can't stop thinking about contouring!Below are some products I'm eyeing and am itching to try. As I'm still very new at this whole contouring thing, I'm not sure which one will work best for me so on my watch list there's a mix of powders, creams and sticks. I'm eager to find out what will work best for me and cannot wait to go try them out in the store!

Becca Lowlight/Highlight Perfecting Palette PressedWhen I saw this beautiful palette with the dark, rich contouring color, I was excited! I've always had trouble finding bronzer that will show up on my face, so I'm assuming that I will run into the same problem with contouring, but this Lowlight from Becca looks gorgeous and seems dark enough that it might just work on me! This is the newer version of this palette with is in powder form, I have a feeling a powder might be what I reach for most often because it's easier to apply and doesn't take as much time, and you know how I feel about speedy makeup...
Becca Lowlight/Highlight Perfecting Palette PouredThis one is the cream counterpart of the Pressed palette, I believe it came out before the powder version and you can also purchase the Lowlight Sculpting Perfector individually if you don't need the highlight or prefer something else for highlighting. The color, like it's powder sister looks rich and natural, not too much red but not too cool. I think this would be great if you want a more natural and dewy finish.
Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting PowderOne of the most raved about sculpting powder! This little beautiful thing (literally, it's a small pod) has been known to create the most natural looking shadow on your face. Thought it comes with a somewhat a hefty price tag, the reviews and swatches I've seen of it online has been amazing. A lot of people say that a little goes a long way, but my concern of course is still whether or not it'll actually show up on my skin. Unfortunately this is an online only item for Sephora, so I might just have to order it and see how it works for me.
Laura Mercier Flawless Contouring PaletteI actually stumble upon this palette by accident, I was originally looking into just powder contouring and have been skipping over cream products, but then I saw this palette and the gorgeous variety of contouring shades I just simply cannot go along without looking into it. The 3 different shades of brown looks like they would be perfect to create contour of different intensities on your face depending on your need. I think the lightest contour color will probably look almost like a natural contour or a bronzer on me, and will work on area that you just want to add a little dimension and not too intense. What I'm more excited about are the 2 darker shades that seem like they would actually work as a contour on me. And since they're cream it'll be easy to build, blend and mix them together to get a shade that works best for you.
Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour PaletteThis gorgeous palette has been making waves in the beauty world for quite some time now, I've seen a lot of tutorials on this and everyone seems to have good things to say about it. My only hesitation with a palette like this that contains neutral, cool and warm shades is that since I'm not a makeup artist and won't have to do makeup for other people but myself, I'm afraid I'll only find 2 to 3 of the 6 shades work for my skin tone, and the rest will be a waste sitting in the palette. But you know what, they create a palette for a reason, maybe I can find a way to use all 6 of them.
Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Stick TrioThis one is a cream product in stick form. When I first saw this my feeling was "meh" towards it for no particular reason. Maybe I thought they'll be harder to use, or might be streaky because you're drawing it directly on your face. But after seeing a lot of tutorials it seems they blend really nicely and are fairly easy to use (and also will be super travel friendly). I'm definitely excited to give this a try to see how it works in person.
Cover FX Contour Kit There's one thing about this contour kit that stands out from the others, and it's the fact that it has options for different skin tone ranging from light to dark. It's especially important for me because it allows me to find a kit that will work for my skin tone instead of just ordering it and hoping for the best. This is a cream product and I believe it's the kit they use for all their contour tutorials on Sephora TV's Makeup How To page, which looks like it'll blend like a dream. Unfortunately a lot of options are sold out on Sephora right now, but at least I know they have the options out there and it means I can most likely find them elsewhere or keep an eye out for them to be back in stock.
