Perfecting highlight and lowlight

A few weeks ago I picked up the Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder to try, but it didn't work out for me. The color did not show up on my skin very well, and it was also was a little too ashy for my skin (I would say it's more of an issue of my skin tone and not the product, so not to discourage y'all that are planning on trying). After a few days of very disappointing trials of trying it with different foundations, I decided it is not working and took it back to Sephora. While I was there I stopped by the Becca counter to look at 2 other contour palettes that I was interested in - the Lowlight/Highlight Perfecting Palette in Pressed and Poured. One in powder formula and the other in cream.Upon first swatching the Poured palette with my fingers I knew immediately that the cream formula is not for me. Personally I thought it was a little too thick and the colors are hard to pick up even using my finger, the formula was also kind of choppy and hard to mix when I swatch it on the back of my hand. But when I swatched the pressed palette I knew it was love at first swatch! The pressed palette contains powder version the Lowlight Sculpting Perfector, and is accompanied by the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal (can be purchased individually), which is loved by many bloggers.First let's talk about the Lowlight Sculpting Powder, shall we? The color is a very nice, rich brown that is not orange and not too ashy, it is the perfect shade for my slightly yellow and warm toned skin tone, and I could not be happier when I see how it looks on my face. The formula is very pigmented and blends beautifully with a brush (I use the Real Techniques contour brush from their 4 Piece Core Collection), so you can use it as ease knowing that if you went a little too heavy handed you can fix it easily. Now on to the beautiful Shimmering Skin Perfector that caught me by surprise. Upon touching it in the pan I was shocked by how creamy it was, with one swatch you can get a very noticeable highlight and shimmer but with a little blending it becomes a nice beam on your cheek. I've tried lots of different highlighting powder and this one is hands down the best, I can now see why everyone has been going crazy about them (also dying to try Champagne Pop)!I have to say I'm extremely happy with this palette. I think this is the first face palette I've purchased where I absolutely love all the products in it. I think this is perfect for everyone, and if you're a tan girl like me who struggles to find a contour shade that suits you and doesn't want to purchase a palette where 4 out of the 6 colors wont' show up on you, definitely give this a try!
