Can you believe we will be ringing in 2017 in just a couple days? This holiday season passed by so quickly and quit frankly, it feels kind of weird and I feel like I haven’t been in a festive mood this year. But as New Years Eve is getting closer and closer, and the After Christmas Sales happening all over the place, it is getting more and more excited about dressing up for the occasion. It is the one holiday you can shamelessly make yourself a walking disco ball after all.
Here are some items to add to your outfit for any and all NYE parties out there. The idea is that you don’t always have to repurchase a brand new outfit, but one key element that can help elevate what you already have in your wardrobe!
Hope everyone had a great year! See you in 2017!
- V-Neck Camisole Top
For a more casual, laid back party, you can go with a fun top like this and pair with some black jeans or skirts. I love the slightly loose fit that allows for an extra glass or 2 of champagne.
- Sequined Top
If you want a wow effect when you walk into a room, you can opt for a more dramatic top like this one. A statement piece that can be wear over or under a dress to create some unusual and fun looks.
- Long Satin Dress
Wear it alone or pair it with a top. This piece is classic and can be dress up or down depending on your need. I love the idea of adding a splash of color (that’s not the traditional gold or silver) for NYE.
- Sequin Dress
Another wear it alone or pair it with others option! For a more dressy look, you can pair this with a fur coat and some heels, or wear it under a sweater for a more casual yet festive outfit.
- Metallic Striped Cami Top
I love tops that are versatile, this one is shiny, festive, but the cut is more casual. The shape also allows you to easily tuck it into a pair of high waisted jeans, or wear it with a fun flowy skirt.
- Velvet Top
A more untraditional route when it comes to NYE dressing. This year anything and everything velvet is in. It’s cozy, fancy, and sometime different for the winter season. I like the option of having just the top so you can still mix in other elements if you want, or keep it very simple with a matching bottom.
- Off the Shoulder Top
If you’re looking for something unique, this top definitely screams that. It has a fun shape, perfect combo of gold and black for the festivities, and also shows off a little skin. The sleeves are a little bubble shape to give it a more playful look.
- Metallic Shimmering Dress
I know this color is very different and might even be ungly for some, but I love the light green with a little golden tone to it. It’s definitely a piece that will make your look pop!
- Contrast Sparkly Dress
For the more traditional, classy parties, this dress is definitely a winner. You have the black to elevate the formalness, but the gold panel ties it all together with the festive look you would want for a NYE party.
- Stain Maxi Dress
To go to the way way fancy spectrum, this dress is simple but yet a statement piece with the material being so bright and eye catching. The asymmetrical cut on the bottom is not too noticeable but creates a pretty flow to the dress.
We’re currently in that awkward phase of between winter and spring weather, there are days when the high reaches the 80s and then there are days when the high is only in the 40s, making it a very confusing time for a capsule wardrobe. My current wardrobe is all kinds of mess, but I recently did a Goodwill trip to clean out some (more) items in my closet which felt great! I think I’ve got my winter wardrobe down, and hopefully I’ll be able to streamline my spring and summer wardrobe as well this year.
Below is a very mixed, confused in temperature a week in outfits! Hope you enjoy!

Hello to my first official cold winter outfits post of the season! We finally got the freezing weather I’ve been expecting since November at the beginning of January. It was definitely nice to feel the cold (yes I just said that) and break out all my heavier coats and turtlenecks, though I’m not sure how long this feeling will last, haha.
This year I’ve added a new winter coat from Uniqlo as my smart jacket that I can wear to more formal events or meetings. It’s simple, clean and has a nice cut that gives you shape and look very put together, the weight is not as heavy as I was expecting but it actually keeps me warm in the 30 deg weather so I’m fairly impressed! And then there’s also this little red number I got as a Christmas present from J.Crew which is a very nice surprise and adds a little color to my closet. I also think it’s about time to give in and get a long down jacket for those below freezing days where I want my knees to be covered and protected from the wind… I’ve always been against them because I thought they look very bulky and ugly, so I’m hoping I’ll find one that still looks feminine and will keep me warm. I’m officially becoming a northern(-ish) girl!

Capsule wardrobe challenge is still happening, but I’m not done prepping my wardrobe yet, there are still a few items that need to be added… But you can see my recently obsession with my black booties from ASOS and black jeans from Madewell. Fall is truly a dreamy season. All the layers, colors, and long coats. I pretty much have only good things to say about fall. I’m so excited that fall is here (only technically, the temperature says otherwise)! It always gets me in the mood of looking at booties, leather jackets, and this season in particular, I have my eyes on the trench coats.
I was never a big trench coat person, I’ve had one and never wore it (and it is now on sale on my Poshmark). But for some reason my eyes are always drawn to them whenever I see someone wearing one. I’ve made it my mission to find the perfect trench coat for myself this season, and honestly it’s been a difficult task to say the least. Because I’m short, it is hard for me to find a nice, drapyey trench coat that fits my frame and looks good length wise at the same time. While the tall models can pull off a nice flowy trench coat, it is near impossible for me to mimic the style. I look like I stole the coat from the adult section and everything is just slightly too wide and too long.
Here are some picks I’ve been looking at, all look so dreamy and comfortable and flow so nicely. I’m hoping I’ll be able to find a few options in store to try on and see how they’ll actually fit on me, and hopefully will find some in petite sizes. Because I suspect the ones that hit the model at the knee will be more like mid calf length on me…

It is almost time to start reviewing items for my capsule wardrobe that I’ve been somewhat ignoring this past few months since I’m between apartments. I was having a hard time following the capsule wardrobe rules because my clothes are scattered around the dresser, suitcase, storage boxes and basement, making it difficult to find the pieces that are actually in my capsule wardrobe. I’ve been just wearing whatever is most easily accessible this past 4 months, but hopefully once I moved everything will be easier to get to and I’ll be able to seriously organize my closet once again!
This week’s outfit is a mix of everything, and I think most of them will be great going forward for fall with the help of some extra layers! Hope you enjoy!
Everlane Cotton Tank | Gap pants (old) | Target Nala Ankle Strap Wedge Sandals
Lou & Grey tank | Loft Modern Faux Leather Trim Skinny Ankle Zip Jeans | Toms Majorca Suede Bootie

With only one more month of summer left, I’m taking full advantage of summer outfits. Recently I’m really enjoying the loose bottoms in my wardrobe, from comfortable trouser, flowly skirts to broken in jeans! This weeks “A week in outfits” focus on how to pair these comfortable bottoms with different tops to create different looks for different occasions.
Also in case you missed it on my multiple Instagram posts, you can see my new obsession that is the Everlane tanks! I have the Ryan tank in charcoal grey and their regular cotton tank in black. I seriously can’t get enough of them and wear them every weekend since I got them (I know, I know). I also just placed another order for a white tank and am considering getting the light grey one as well… They truly are the best! If you’re in the market for some new tanks, you know what to do!

Another week of summer outfits, this week is gear more towards mixing and matching for comfortable work outfits. I’m really loving the dress under a top look, or using a dress as a top. And to my surprise, skirts has been one of my favorite things to wear recently because it helps cover my legs when I’m in the office but also helps combat the heat when I’m outside. What’s your go-to summer work outfits?
