A week in outfits #11

Doing a week in outfits in the winter is no easy task since I’m always super bundled up, rotating my 4 go to coats.  Instead of showing y’all the same coats over and over again, I figured I would start doing “what’s under my coat” a week in outfits post!  Yes it took me almost an entire winter to figure this out… But better late than never, right?

I think now its safe to say that fall is officially upon us!  This week we’ve consistently have weather in the 60s and 70s during the day and sometimes down to 50s at night which is very exciting, though I heard it’s going to get up to the 80s this weekend…  That aside, I started breaking out my scarves, vests and cute socks (the underrated accessory that can help up your outfit game and everyone should pay more attention to especially in the colder weather) for this week’s outfits, along with lots of comfortable sweaters, denims and boots.  I hope you enjoy!

A taste of fall

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetToday I’m doing a little preview of my fall wardrobe as a final prep of my capsule wardrobe for fall (I’m already 2 weeks behind because the weather in DC just don’t seem like it can make up its mind and it was close to the 90s today).

This fall I see myself in comfortable booties, classic patterns, rich colors like purple and aubergine, jeans and scarves.  I will be bringing in some darker, richer colors to the mix to compliment the season.  I’m also very excited about able to spice up my outfit with some scarves because you can get pretty creative with the patterns and it’s a good way to add a pop of color into your outfits.  I recently acquired this yellow scarf because I think the color is perfect for fall, the combination shown in the picture also happens to be the color scheme of my alma mater (go jackets!) which is perfect for gameday!

I will hopefully be able to start my fall capsule wardrobe soon *fingers crossed*, I’m very excited about what I have lined up and I can’t wait to share with you guys!

Please don’t judge the title of this post, I’m just really really excited because fall is finally here!  To me fall is the best season to dress for, lots of layering, cozy knits, vests, scarfs and booties.  I especially love wearing booties because I find them very comfortable and easy to walk in, and they are the perfect addition to any outfit.

I’ve come to the realization that I am a brown booties girl, whenever I need to pick out an outfit quick or while I’m still half awake, brown booties are always the ones I reach for.  Not that I don’t like my black ones, but for some reason brown just fits better with my wardrobe.  I’ve had my 2 stable for more than 5 years, I pretty much wear them all year long and they’re slowly disintegrating, literally.  I love them to pieces but I think it’s time to start looking for replacements, and comes these wonderful ankle booties from Loft!

I saw them last month when Loft paired them with their jeans ad and I’ve been waiting for them to be available for purchase.  I was informed that they would be available in September, so when September finally came around and these became available online I ordered them immediately.  After what seems like forever 2 weeks of waiting for my shipping confirmation email and stalking my UPS delivery guy, they’re finally here!  They are even more beautiful in person, and are extremely comfortable.  The heels are the perfect height for me, tall enough to give me some height but short enough that I can walk in them all day long comfortably.  I can’t wait to wear them all fall year long!

Last month thanks to Loft’s jeans ads, I started reconsidering my choice of super form fitting (read: tight) jegging style skinnys.  After getting a pair and seeing how nice they are, I ended up purchasing 2 more pairs – the Curvy Skinny Ankle Zip Jeans in Destructed Perfect Blue and the Petite Curvy Skinny Ankle Zip Jeans in Saturated Rinse Wash.

I’m really pleasantly surprised because they are extremely comfortable and not at all what I remembered denim being.  The Loft jeans have very beautiful washes, they also fit me very nicely and are reasonably priced, though figuring out which fit (Modern, Curvy, Petite Modern, Petite Curvy) is best for me in each style was kind of tricky…  I really love all 3 pairs I got and I have no doubt they’ll be my stable from here on out, so stay tune for some outfit posts with them in the near future.

Hope y’all had a wonderful week, and happy Friday!

I’ve been on a jeans craze lately, mainly because my 2 go to pair are from 2010 (read: olddddd), but also thanks to Loft‘s heavy promotion on jeans this month.  I was a little skeptical at first because their jeans did not fit me well at all 3 years ago when I worked there, but they claim that they’ve changed the sizing and fit of their jeans and the promo pictures for them just look so nice, so I got suckered into their marketing ploy and grabbed 2 pairs, the Boyfriend and the Relaxed Skinny in petite.

When they arrived they didn’t fit the way I was expecting them to, didn’t taper in enough or too snug/loose at the wrong places…  I was disappointed but at the same time I was also kind of expecting it.  A few days later I went to the store to return them, I saw the Relaxed Skinny Jeans in my size but regular length, I decided to give it one last try before I finally give up on Loft jeans.  Well what do you know, this pair fits like a glove!  A relaxed, boyfriend jeans look that tapers in on the bottom, just what I was looking for.

I am so glad I gave them a second try because they have so many different wash and cuts to choose from all within reasonable price range (and they always have good deals/promo).  The one down side with them is that most of the items I like and a lot of petite items are online exclusive so you can’t try them on before you order…  So you have to deal wit the ordering online, wait for them to arrive, try them on and see if they fit, and return the ones that didn’t work out.  Not the most efficient way to shop, but if they fit as nicely as the Relaxed Skinny Jeans, I think I can handle it.

Texture rich is key

Isn’t it always a great feeling to get through Monday in one piece?  I’ve had quite a productive weekend which makes coming back to work extra tiring because I feel like I didn’t get much rest, so for my first day back to work I wore an outfit that makes me feel comfortable and relaxed.

Hope y’all had a great start of the week, and happy not Monday!

A week in outfits #2

A week in outfits 2 so soon you say?  Well yes, I’m a little surprised myself too.  After the first installment of {A week in outfits} I was just itching to do a second one, and as a spare of the moment thing I decided to do a second post this week, I guess you can call this an impulse post, haha.  Hope you enjoy it!
