Spring lips lineup

I’m not too adventurous with my lip color choices, I like to keep them neutral and that is it.  For the fall and winter I’ll go a little darker, and for spring I usually switch to a more nude lineup.  Like what I did for my Fall Lips Lineup, I’m going to go over a few that’s been the residents of my handbag for the past few weeks that I plan on keeping there for the rest of the spring and carrying into the summer.

First up is the newest to my lip product family, the Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor Buffs in Sin-a-mon per recommendation from Claire and Tamira, it’s a beautiful nude color with a hint of brown that is very sophisticated and perfect for everyday looks. Second is the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter I got last year, it’s formula is one of my favorite and after a year it’s still going strong! Then comes the most loved neutral lipstick by many bloggers, the MAC Patisserie has a great consistency when applied and doesn’t dry your lips out, the color is slightly more pink than my Maybelline Sin-a-mon, which is a great alternative for days when you want a younger neutral hue.  Last but not least is the NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair, a great drug store option with great formula and the color applies beautifully.

Ladies, the time of beautiful bold and deep(er) color lips is upon us!  Fall is the season to break out your fun and rich lip colors, for me I’m excited to use some of the darker shades in my stash that I’ve been holding off during the summer.  Here are 4 that I think will get a lot of use this season:

Chanel Rouge Allure in Fatale – One of the first lipsticks I ever purchased.  The color is a bold, deep berry that seems really intense when you look at it on its own but is surprisingly subtle (for a bold color) and nice on the lips.  The color is very beautiful and classy but more on the serious side, I would most likely pair it with work, date night or formal events.

Lorac Breakthrough Performance Lipsticks in Premiere – An impulse buy during the Lorac sale that I fell in love with, this dusty rose color is the perfect nude for fall!  The formula is slightly darker than my natural lip color with a hint of brown, which matches my skin tone very well.  This color makes the overall look of my face more mature and the deeper nude adds some warmth to my face which makes it perfect for the colder weather.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Sultry – This matte dusty pink is perfect for the days you want to add a little more color than just a nude to your lips but don’t want to go quite as far as a bold red or berry.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Standout – A bold red with a slight hint of brown.  The color is very bright and out there so it is usually reserved for a day where I’m feeling a little more dressy or a night out with LBD, but during the fall I feel this would be a great color to pair with chunky knits and a scarf.

Finding my “My Lips But Better”

For my very first Mac lipstick, I was determined to find a “My Lips But Better” lipstick.  After doing lots of swatching, I finally decided on the Mac Patisserie!  When I first saw Lily Pebbles talking about the Patisserie on her {Lip Product Addict Tag} video back in May, I was intrigued by the brownish pink/nude color that looks perfect for my skin.  Then I saw Sarah from Sarah Loves Makeup mentioned it on her {So You Want to Buy Your First Mac Lipstick} post, I was convinced that I have to at least do a swatch at the store and try it out.  So I did.  And the rest is history.

The color of the lipstick is just so beautiful and looks so natural on my lips.  The brownish hue is perfect for people with darker color lips like me, the pink gives my lips a warm tone which makes them look healthy and lively, and the nude is a perfect mixer for combining the pink and brown, making the lipstick color look so natural when applied.  The slight shimmer makes my lips look fuller, and the formula is very creamy and doesn’t really dry my lips out.

I’m so excited to add it to my lipstick collection, and cannot wait to add this to my everyday look!  What’s your “my lips but better” lipstick?
