Buxom play date

I’ve collected many Sephora points and decided now is as good as ever to redeem them. I went with the Buxom Objects of Obsession set because I’ve heard a lot of good things about their lip products so I want to take this opportunity and try them out.

Upon first impression I really like the consistency of the lip products. The mini Full On Lip Polish in Sophia is a beautiful, sheer gloss that gives your lips an extra boost of shine and plump, and the Full On Lip Cream in Kir Royale is a shimmer free gloss that is a perfect color for the season. Since I don’t use lip gloss often I think the minis are a perfect size for me so I’ll be able to use them up before they get too old.

Even though my main focus of getting this set was the lip products, I do really love the Buxom Lash Mascara sample I have and am glad I’ll be able to try the Buxom Bar Mascara and have it as a backup. The Hold The Line Waterproof Eyeliner have some mixed reviews online, so I think I’ll have to give it a few test runs to decide if it works for me or not.

Have you tried any Buxom products?

Spring lips lineup

I’m not too adventurous with my lip color choices, I like to keep them neutral and that is it.  For the fall and winter I’ll go a little darker, and for spring I usually switch to a more nude lineup.  Like what I did for my Fall Lips Lineup, I’m going to go over a few that’s been the residents of my handbag for the past few weeks that I plan on keeping there for the rest of the spring and carrying into the summer.

First up is the newest to my lip product family, the Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor Buffs in Sin-a-mon per recommendation from Claire and Tamira, it’s a beautiful nude color with a hint of brown that is very sophisticated and perfect for everyday looks. Second is the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter I got last year, it’s formula is one of my favorite and after a year it’s still going strong! Then comes the most loved neutral lipstick by many bloggers, the MAC Patisserie has a great consistency when applied and doesn’t dry your lips out, the color is slightly more pink than my Maybelline Sin-a-mon, which is a great alternative for days when you want a younger neutral hue.  Last but not least is the NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair, a great drug store option with great formula and the color applies beautifully.

Butter gloss

The NYX Butter Gloss first got my attention when I was reading Sarah’s blog, then I saw it again on Clair’s YouTube channel, I told myself I need to get my hands on one!  So the other day I went into Target and was browsing around the beauty section, I found the little area that house the NYX products and ended up studying all the different butter gloss colors they have to offer for at least 10 minutes before picking up Crème Brûlée – a beautiful looking nude that is not too much pink but more on the neutral/brown/mauve side.

I have forgotten about the texture of gloss since I haven’t really used one in a while, it was a nice surprise when I applied and feel the rich, thick texture covering my lips because I really liked the fact that I can feel it on my lips.  The NYX Butter Gloss has a rich moisturized texture, but not oily or sticky feeling when applied on your lips.  The scent of this gloss is also very pleasant, kind of sweet but not overwhelming with a hint of vanilla.  The color is not as pigmented as I would like but noticeable, since my natural lip color is darker, a light neutral gloss like this doesn’t really do much for me color wise, but it is nice for adding a little healthy shine.  And I’m also really surprised by how long lasting the formula is!

I don’t know if I would need more than 1 gloss at a time for my collection, but I’m definitely happy to have this one around to mix things up!
