Keep on blushing

During my last visit to NYC, I was able to stop by the glossier show room and test out their new Cloud Paint in person. First of all, I love their show room! The space is small but you can easily walk around and browse/try all products, and everything is so visually pleasing.

I went in with one goal in mind and that is to test out all the shades for Cloud Paint and figure out which 2 I want (they’re running a 2 for $30 deal!). I knew I wanted Dusk as an easy, neutral blush but couldn’t decide between Haze and Puff, after playing around with all of them I ended up picking up Haze, a darker berry tone blush over Puff which is a pretty baby pink because the darker tone works so well with my complexion. I loved how easy it was to use them, the finish is beautiful and so natural, literally, like you’re naturally blushing. It was love at first dab. But one note on them is that a little goes a longggg way, but no worries if you used a little too much, they’re so easy to blend, even with Haze.

Ever since I got my hands on them I’ve forgo my powder blushes. I no longer need to have a finished base to apply blush, as I use Cloud Paint straight on a bare face that’s freshly cleansed and moisturized face. It gives me a beautiful effortless flush in the matter of seconds, no prep work required, and on top of that the longevity is amazing, at the end of the work day I can still clearly see the blush on my cheeks. Cloud Paint is really every girl’s shortcut to achieve rosy cheeks! I definitely recommend you give them a try!

Can’t get enough Glossier

Can you tell I’m a little obsessed with Glossier? They’re hands down my favorite makeup brand for when I want an effortless look. I’ve been holding out on getting the original Glossier product Balm Dotcom because I have so many lip balms and chapsticks sitting around my house, though I’ve been dying to try them. So after a couple of months of clearing out my balm/chapstick stash, I was finally at the point where it’s time to restock!

With my parents coming to visit next month, I thought it’s a good idea to get extras for my mom and have her bring a few back for some of my friends in Taiwan to try. I ended up ordering the Balm Dotcom Trio and the Coconut Balm Dotcom, and now I’m having a hard time deciding which one to keep.

Their packaging is always so cute, and the graphic design is beautiful but funky at the same time. I think of all 4 of these, I would most likely be keeping the rose because I love the hint of color in the rose and the scent is just so dreamy, but I also like how versatile the coconut can be because you can use it for dry patches on the skin as well since it’s colorless. Decisions decisions… But either way, I’m excited to give these a go, and who knows, I might just end up ordering all of them again for myself later on…

Glossier phase2 and more

As you can see, I finally gave in and placed an order for some Glossier products and I regret nothing. I’ve been looking for a lighter base for my face and a nice concealer that’s not too heavy, so when I saw Phase 2 came out I had to give it a try.

Per usual Glossier products came in their cute custom shipping box that’s always a pleasure to open. The Phase 2 set came in a beautiful white box that has magnetic closure, it is the standard high quality minimalist design you can expect Glossier. In my mind I already thought of a million ways to use it, now I just have to pick one.

There are 3 items included in the Phase 2 box, two new and one everyone is all too familiar with. I don’t think I need to say much about the Boy Brow, as all the reviews out there have been nothing but good. I have it in brown already, but was glad to see them restock the black (finally) which was the color I wanted originally but have been out of stock for months!

Of the whole Phase 2 set, I was most excited about the Stretch Concealer because I haven’t found one that I love yet. I’ve been having issues with my concealer looking cake-y so I’m so glad Glossier came out with a concealer! The Glossier Stretch Concealer to me is the perfect combination of coverage and dewy-ness, it is easy to apply and looks so natural on the skin.

The one product I didn’t expect to like as much as I do is Generation G, a matte (but sheer) lipstick with incredible consistency. I got the color Cake which looks like a beautiful taupe-y nude in the tube, it is just tinted enough to show up on my lips, and it works like a color corrector for my lip color, giving my lips a healthy glow with just one layer of application. Even though it’s a matte lip tint, it’s not drying at all and almost feels like a balm when applying. Now I wish I got all the other shades as well so I can try them out!

On top of getting the Phase 2 set, I also got the Perfecting Skin Tint to help give my face a little more glow. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been paying more attention to makeup tutorials and noticing how big of a difference a nice light weight base can make even if you have great skin, or my skin is simply getting to the point that it really needs some extra oomph, but I’ve been noticing my skin has been looking a little lackluster lately and I desperately want to get my glow back. The Perfect Skin Tint is exactly what I needed – a light weight base that doesn’t overwhelm your skin but gives it a little hint of color to make everything look balanced.

Last minute gifting

Today is a little last minute post about last minute gifting (I sense a theme here), as I was one of the ones who didn’t place their order till the very last minute of the holiday shipping cutoff date! My last minute gift arrived yesterday from Glossier, and although I know we’re a little late in the game to place an order now, for those who are still looking to get something nice for someone (or yourself), they send out these cute apology notes if you’re on their email list, and you can either print out or forward the note to someone you want to gift to but are running a little late. Better late than never, right?

Happy Holidays everyone!

Meeting the Boy Brow

Glossier is a brand that has been on my radar for a while, but since I don’t have any immediate needs on their previous offerings, I was not able to justify a purchase and trying their range, but that is until the Boy Brow came around.

I’m most insecure about brows when it comes to my face (I’ve made peace on my little flat nose and giant cheeks), so whenever I see a new brow product surface on the blogosphere, I’m always willing to give them a try. This little number has been floating around the internet for a while, I’ve seen many reviews on it and all are positive. So when the opportunity arise (25% off for Black Friday), I placed an order immediately.

Like others said, it’s more of a pomade than a gel which give you the coloring but not the crunchiness. I like the little applicator so you can do small and precised strokes. I find the Boy Brow give my brows more dimension than just using a brow pencil, but at the same time still keeping it look natural. I’m proud to admit that I’ve hopped on the Boy Brow bandwagon. Have you tried this little wonder from Glossier yet?
