#NSale 2017 picks

Tomorrow is the beginning of #NSale for the public! If you have not seen the many blog posts/videos circulating around, it’s one of the best sales of the year where you can stock up on amazing beauty and fashion deals for the coming seasons. The sale opens to the public tomorrow and goes till August 6th, but better act fast on the things you know you’ll want because things will be selling out fast!

Below are some of my picks for this year’s sale, a variety of beauty products and lots of coats and boots for the fall and winter! Hope you find it helpful!

Beauty Picks

  1. Jouer Long Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick Duo
I’ve heard a lot of good thing about the brand and have always loved their packaging, but have never had the chance to try their products. When I saw this set I thought it would be a great opportunity to play around with the brand.
  2. Kiehl’s Jumbo Creme de Corps
My first encounter with Creme de Corps wasn’t a very positive one. I was younger and thought the lotion was a little too thick and sticky. But now that I’m older, I think it would be good to give this another go as I find my skin is more dry now and need some extra hydration.
  3. Moroccanoil The Ultimate Hydration Collection
My mom is a big fan of the Moroccanoil, so naturally I’m drawn to it because, of course, mom knows best. I love their hair oil and wonder if the shampoo and conditioner will perform the same.
  4. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow Set
The famous Filmstar Bronze and Glow has a new little sister! The highly coveted palette is no stranger to the beauty community. Now Charlotte Tilbury has come out with a set with blush, if you’ve been interested in trying but didn’t want the highlighter, this would be a good set to get instead.
  5. Diptyque Scented Candle Set
Every year when Nsale starts, I look for the Diptyque set. It’s a great deal for those who wants to try out different scent from the brand. They’re beautiful, smells amazing, and the mini candle holder can be used as little hair clip holder once you used up the candle.
  6. YSL Lip Set
I don’t own many luxury lip products, but YSL’s packaging is always so attractive! This set has 3 different formula included (and 3 different packaging), in 2 different color variation, which will be a great way to try out the brand.
  7. Dior Addicted Lip Set
Another luxury brand lip product, this set includes some cult favorite Dior lip products, comes with a cute pink case and 2 different color variation as well.
  8. Sisley Paris The Best Seller Set
My mom’s favorite skin care brand! This is truly an amazing deal for the product you’re getting. I’ve used both before and find them to be one of the best for my skin. It is definitely worth a try if your budget allows!
  9. Guerlain Terracotta After Summer Chic Tropic Bronzing Powder
I stumble upon this bronzer when I was browsing the sale page. It’s simply stunning! I’ve seen a lot of great review for the Terracotta bronzers, and imaging this one will perform the same as the others.
  10. Voluspa Vermeil Mini Tin Candle Set
I love the packaging of Voluspa candles, but I didn’t love the scents that were included in last year’s sets. This year I saw these minimalist mini tin candle set and thought I’d give it a sniff, surprisingly I liked all 5! There are 2 other sets (in 3s, come in normal and mini) available, in a more feminine, patterned tin. I definitely recommend going to the store and give them a sniff.

Fashion Picks

  1. BLANKNYC Life Changer Moto Jacket
Last year BLANKNYC came out with a similar style moto jacket, I was eyeing it for the longest time but never pulled the trigger. This year, they came out with a similar version but with gold hardware. I’m not as big of a fan of the gold but thought it’s a great find and will be a great staple piece for any closet!
  2. Trina Turk Dawn Genuine Shearling Collar Double Face Jacket
A good classic coat is always a good investment piece. This gives the classic camel coat a little twist with the shearling collar. It’s so cute and gives it a more lux feel.
  3. Barbour Barrowdale Wax Cotton Coat
These Barbour wax jackets are great for everyday activities, they’re great in quality and weather proofed. It will last you a longggggg time if you take good care of it
  4. Kenneth Cole New York Wool Blend Long Coat
A long line design of the classic camel coat. Compare to the traditional black long coat, this color will lighten up your whole outfit, giving you an elevated look without being too dark in the winter.
  5. Stuart Weitzman Notazzie Bootie
A pair of beautiful black booties is a must have for everyone. I’m a big fan of short boots because they’re easy to wear and is very versatile for all seasons. The plain, classic design will never go out of style, and the not to tall heel will give you a boost without slowing you down.
  6. BP. Lightweight Rib Stitch Cardigan
Having a lightweight cardigan is so handy for the fall and winter (and even spring). There are many great reviews on this BP. cardigan and it’s a great price to invest in a piece that will carry you through 3 different seasons.
  7. Free People Electric City Pullover Sweater
A textured pullover sweater helps breakup the boring, plain colors, it also makes the whole outfit a little more fun and relaxed and will be a great piece to throw over your outfit for many occasions.
  8. Stuart Weitzman Elevated Over The Knee Boots
OTK boots are always very popular in the fall and winter. I love the look of them but I think the hassle of wearing tight enough jeans and make sure nothing creases when pulling the boots on might be a little much for me. They are however beautiful and made by a well respected brand that everyone loves, so if you’ve been thinking about investing in one, don’t miss out on these beaut.
  9. J Brand Maria High Waist Skinny Jeans
There are many black skinny jeans out there, but the hard part is finding a pair that suits you and won’t fade after one wash. I’m hoping there will be more reviews on these soon so I can evaluate how they will perform overtime. I do love J Brand jeans and the one pair I have had previously was the most comfortable and good looking jeans I’ve owned.
  10. Steve Madden Hugh Embellished Mule
As a Georgia Tech grad, everything with a bee has a special place in my heart. These mules are so so cute! Just not sure how practical they are…
  11. Lauren Ralph Lauren Hooded Quilted Coat
This coat looks like it’ll be great for a lot of outdoor activities in the fall. The color is very versatile (also have it in black) and will match pretty much every outfit. I’m hoping it’s insulated enough that it’ll help me stay warm throughout the fall and early winter.
  12. Aquatalia Genna Weatherproof Tall Boot
Riding boots style is my jam. The fact that this is weatherproof makes it even better! Black boots will match everything and they instantly sharpen your look.
  13. Treasure & Bond Slouchy Pullover
A very relaxed feel, will be great for lounging around but you can also style it to make it a cute brunch outfit! The slight bell sleeve is very on trend and the variety of colors means there’s something for everyone.

Sephora Holiday Shopping Event 2016

I’ve been on a beauty product hiatus lately, not being very interested in new beauty products, and not very motivated to try new things. But when the Sephora Holiday Shopping Event is right around the corner, it kind of force me to plan and think about the items I need to restock, and also list out some things I would like to try. Every year beauty lovers all over look forward to this event, because it’s simply an amazing deal and the perfect time for you to stock up on basics or try out luxury items at a great discount! This year is no different, and I’ve manage to pull myself back together and create a list of items I’m extremely interested in getting my hands on during the sale! Here are some of the items I’m eyeing, what are you planning on getting?

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette
I’ve been eyeing this palette since it was released, the red tone in this palette is so different from anything I have. The colors are kind of intimidating, but after seeing a lot of tutorials online, they look so versatile! It is definitely one of those outside of my comfort zone product that I’m nervous but excited to try.
  2. Ouai Shampoo and Conditioner
Ouai has been one of the most talked about hair product this year, the baby of the hair genius Jen Atkin pretty much markets itself. I’m particular interested in the CLEAN shampoo to help tame the oily mess that’s on my head.
  3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light
Okay, so I don’t need anymore face palette… But just look at this packaging! I’ve never tried any of the Hourglass powders so this palette seems like a great way to try them out!
  4. Tom Ford Ultra-Rich Lip Color
I think this one is pretty self explanatory here. Owning a Tom Ford lipstick is every beauty lover’s dream, but the hefty $50 + price tag is not a easy pill to swallow. The Sephora sale is a great chance to get your hands on one at a discounted price since there are no brand restriction during this sale. If you’ve been wanting to get a Tom Ford lipstick but haven’t been able to justify it, this is your chance!
  5. Giorgio Armani Beauty Lip Magnet Liquid Lipstick
Another high end lip product that normally would be hard to justify buying… I personally have not tried this product yet but am definitely interested to see what all the hype is about.
  6. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer
One of the things I always have to purchase (multiple of) during the sale is my brow pencil. When Anastasia Beverly Hills came out with the Brow Definer earlier this year, I was unsure about it because I love the Brow Wiz so much I didn’t know how I would feel about the new shape of the Brow Definer. Turns out, it’s just as amazing (if not more amazing) than the Brow Wiz. I love the fact that I can be more careless with this one and not have to worry about the “lines” being too obvious.
  7. Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof Brow Pencil Easy Shape & Fill
Speaking of brow products, one simply can’t ignore the huge range of brow products Benefit launched this year. Everything you could ever want for your brows, they’ve got it. I’m a fairly boring person when it comes to brows, I need my brow pencil, and my Glossier Boy Brow. So even though I already have a brand I like, I’m always open to trying out other ones on the market!
  8. Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1
Dry shampoo is something I haven’t really been able to get on with. I just don’t seem to find them effective and it usually just makes me feel more greasy. I’ve heard a lot of good reviews of this one tho, so I’m tempted to give it a try.
  9. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
One of my favorite things to play around with makeup wise is eyeshadow, and one simply can’t go without a good primer. I’ve been loyal to the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer since the very beginning, because I find it very effective and doesn’t give me a silicon-y feeling when applied.
  10. Urban Decay Naked3
Another out of the ordinary color palette for me. But since I’ve pretty much got my neutral palette covered, I thought it’s time to add in some fun colors. I’ve played around with this palette before at my friend’s place, and really like the look of the pinks on me which is unusual. Though I’m really interested in the palette, I have yet to be able to pull the trigger to purchase it, but I think the 20% off might just be the push I need to get it!
  11. Buxom True Nude Lip Foundation
I’m forever trying to find a good nude lipstick. I really like the coverage on this one and the color selection seems right up my alley.
  12. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
An everyday stable in my makeup routine. Always good to have a few in stock in case you run out!
  13. Stella Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
I still can’t decide if I like this one or the Kat Von D one more. I think they each have their time and place, so I like to have one of each in my collection so I can have my options depending on my mood that day.
  14. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer
A good face moisturizer is hard to come by. I’ve tried a few brands that are ok, but I’m not wow by. The only one that I absolutely love is the Sisley one my mom gave me, but that’s simply too expensive for me to repurchase whenever I run out… So I’m still on the lookout for a good alternative for the day I run out of my Sisley moisturizer.
  15. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
Another product that peaked my interest because of the name. The fact that it’s supposed to help firm up your skin just makes it even more intriguing.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2016

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access 2016

One of the most talked about sale of the year is here! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is usually the best time to shop and preview some of the new items for fall, and of course scoop up some great beauty deals that is good year round.

Here are some items that’s caught my eye from this year’s sale that I think would be great additions to everyone’s fall wardrobe/beauty routine.

  1. Sigma The Power Pair Set – I’ve been washing my brushes with my hands since I first started using brushes, which was sufficient enough when it was mainly just eyeshadow brushes. But recently I started using more and more foundation/tinted moisturizer and I realize how much product can get trapped in there, it takes a long time to get out washing by hand, and still sometimes I still don’t feel they’re 100% clean. When I saw this set in the “Beauty Exclusives” section, I was more than thrilled. Not only have I been eyeing this little mat for a long time, but I also get a flat top kabuki brush which will be great to add into my foundation brush rotation. Can’t believe I’m saying this but I cannot wait to clean my brushes!
  2. Glamglow Glamazing Gravity Mud Set – The very popular silver mask that took the internet by storm. I had a sample size of this a while back and loved the way it make my face feel after using (and on top of that, the silver mask looks super cool that I almost convinced Brian to use it too, almost). With my mom coming to visit in August, I thought this might be a fun mother daughter activity to do with her while dad is out busy at the conference.
  3. Diptyque Scented Candle Set – I love candles all year round, but especially in the fall and winter because it makes the space feel extra cozy. Diptyque candles are loved by many but also cost a pretty penny, this set has some of the most iconic scents from Diptyque and is a great way to test out the water. They also come in super adorable tiny packaging which is great to use as displays around the house.
  4. Voluspa Maison Blanc Mini Tin Candle Trio – Another candle selection but at a more affordable price point. Last year when they had these trios during the Anniversary Sale I almost purchased them, but at the time I had just purchased a couple Diptyque candles from Hautelook and couldn’t justify having 10 candles sitting around my tiny apartment so I passed. This year, with all the ones I have running low, I’ll finally be able to give these a try! There are 2 scent combinations so I would definitely recommend stopping by the store to give them a sniff!
  5. Hinge Wool Round Crown Hat – Hats always sound like a great idea, but whenever I get ready in the morning, I always prefer beanies over hats with brims. But this year, I would like to try and change things up a bit and add some hats to my wardrobe rotation. I think they can really add to an outfit, and I feel like if it’s a well fitted hat, it would withstand the wind outside and not ruin your hair after a day of wear. We’ll see if I end up sticking to my words tho…
  6. BLANKNYC Morning Suede Moto Jacket – Moto jackets are something I think are great additions to any wardrobe. Though I only own 2 currently (one thin one for spring and summer, one black leather for the fall and winter), I reach for them almost every time I want to up my outfit game. I’ve been wanting to get a suede one in a neutral color since last winter, but wasn’t able to find one that I like at a reasonable price point. When I saw this one on sale, I immediately added it to my wishlist. I’m a little worried that it might be a little too cropped, but I’m excited to try it on when it arrives in the mail. Keeping my fingers crossed that it fits the way I want.
  7. French Connection Hooded Parka With Faux Fur Trim – Parkas are a fun stable for fall and winter. I’m always most drawn to the olive colored ones. I love this one especially because the fur is black instead of the standard neutral/brown colors. It reminds me of one of the ones Zara came out with last year (that was sold out in my size before I could order one). The only thing that worries me is the fit, as I’m pretty short and it’s really hard to find a parka that doesn’t look like it’s swallowing me.
  8. BLANKNYC Skinny Dipper Distressed Skinny Jeans – Okay, I know ripped jeans are not really great for winter, but it’s perfect for fall weekend when it’s just cool enough out but you still want to show some skin. I’ve been eyeing this pair of jeans since last year, it’s been living in my wishlist and I’m happy to see it on sale! Though I’m worried about the practicality of them, they would definitely be fun to add to my weekend wardrobe.
  9. Aquatalia Olita Weatherproof Riding Boot – I have a pair of black riding boots that’s been with me since college. I’ve been so happy with them that I have not bother to look for another pair, until the beginning of this year when I realize it’s slowly falling apart. I’m definitely going to take it to a shoe parlor and try to see if they can put my baby back together, but in case they can’t, I think these will be a great replacement pair. I love the style of riding boots and the hardware/detail on these are very simple but cute. I also love the fact that it’s weatherproof (but what does that mean exactly?), so hopefully it’ll hold up in the snow better compare to my old ones.
  10. Frye Melissa Button Leather Riding Boot – Another riding boots option, but this pair comes in 2 different brown shades. I had a pair of brown boots but I have not worn them in years because in the winter I usually just grab everything black for a very easy put together outfit. But these will be great for fun fall outdoor activities, they’ll also look super cute with flannels.
  11. Dior So Real Sunglasses – This one is something you need to be ready to splurge on. They’re beautiful sunglasses and I’ve been wanting them for the longest time. I ended up getting a dupe from ASOS a couple weeks ago (not in the colors I want but that was the only option they have) and I think I’ll be able to move on without these. Though when I saw these as part of the Anniversary Sale, I was pretty excited! If you just can’t go without them for any longer, you do get a decent discount during the sale!

Sephora VIB Holiday Shopping Event 2015 Wishlist

sephora vib holiday shopping event 15

The Sephora VIB Holiday Shopping Event is upon us! It’s definitely one of the most anticipated sales of the year, with all the holiday sets available and an amazing 20% off everything, it’s the perfect time to stock up on your daily needs and check off some items on your holiday gift list.

This year Sephora divided the event into 2 weekends, from 11/6-11/9 is reserved for those with VIB Rogue status, and from 11/13-11/16 for the VIBs. So while the VIB Rogues are shopping away, I researched and made a list of the new items I want to get next weekend. Instead of doing a general shopping guide, I thought it would be more fun and personal to share with you what’s on my wishlist and why, so lets get started!

  1. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
This has been on my want list since September! Ever since I got some sample to try for my friend’s wedding, I have my heart set on getting the full size during the VIB sale. Of all the foundation I’ve tried, this one has my favorite consistency and weight, I love how it’s so easy to apply and blend, at the same time it looks very natural. Even though it’s at a higher price point compare to other foundation, since I don’t use it everyday I’m hoping it’ll be able to last me a while.
  2. Urban Decay Brow Beater Microfine Brow Pencil and Brush
My girl crush Claire recently mentioned this in her favorites video, she has compare and said that this would be a good alternative/switch up for the Anastasia Brow Wiz (which I will also be restocking during the sale) and it definitely piqued my interest. I’m always open to trying new brow pencils since it’s the one thing I use every day, and I cannot wait to see how these compare.
  3. Laura Mercier Flawless Contouring Palette
This one is definitely the least practical splurge item on my wishlist, but I just couldn’t help it because it looks so beautiful. I love to play around with contour, though I usually don’t do that during the week because the extra 10 minutes in bed always sounds like a good idea. However, I’ve been doing it more and more on the weekend, and really love how it gives a subtle lift to your features. I’ve been using the Becca Lowlight/Highlight Perfecting Palette Pressed and I seriously love it, but I’m very interested in the idea of cream contour as most people say it looks a lot more natural.
  4. Verb Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner
I saw this product in one of Sephora’s marketing email a while ago, I don’t really have a particular reason why I picked these over the other hair products, but I just thought they look very interesting, the packaging is cute, and the price is very reasonable. I love trying out new hair products because I still have yet to find the absolutely perfect one for me.
  5. NARS Kabuki Ita Brush
Another product for contouring. I’ve been using my Real Technique brush when doing contouring which has been working fine for me and gives a really natural contouring, but I really want to try to achieve the more chiseled look and so far the Ita brush has the best review of its kind.
  6. Urban Decay Matt Revolution Lipstick in 1993
Yes, yes, I have more than enough of these dark neutral/nude lip color, but they look the best on me, and I just can’t get enough. Though I have some similar colors in my collection, I want to try out different brand and formula just to see what else is out there.
  7. Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer
I’ve tried a few primer samples but none really stick out to me, this is just one of the ones that looks interesting to me and I thought the name is pretty fun. Will report back how I feel about it if I end up getting it.
  8. WEN by Chaz Dean Cleansing Conditioner Sampler
Another Claire influenced want item. She swears by the Wen cleansing conditioner and seeing how awesome her hair looks always, I’ve been considering trying it out. I don’t know how I feel about not actually shampooing my hair, so have been hesitant on buying the full size. But with this little sampler pack I think it’ll be a great way for me to try it out.
  9. Yves Saint Laurent Black Oplum
I got a little sample size a while ago, and when I first smelled it, I didn’t think I would be very into this scent because it’s a little strong and sweet for me, but once I put it on and as the day goes by I find the scent more and more pleasant. I already have so many other perfumes, but am definitely tempted to get this one during the sale.
  10. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick
A very highly coveted item that’s got great reviews from multiple bloggers. I’ve tried something similar to a liquid lipstick a few years ago, but hated how it made my lips feel so I’ve not used one since. But after seeing everyone rave about it, I think I should be more open to the idea of it. Hopefully the formula will not dry out my lips.
  11. Viseart Eyeshadow Palette
So… Let’s be honest, I don’t need another eyeshadow palette, but just look at this beauty! The one I’m most interested in is the Neutral Matte palette (of course), this will definitely be a splurge item and I’m still on the fence because of the super high price tag. I’m hoping to read more about it before next weekend, if you have one yourself please let me know what you think!

What I learned from moving

After spending a lot of time and effort apartment shopping, Brian and I finally found our new home for the next year! This is going to be our first apartment together, though we are technically already living together at his parents house now, it really isn’t the same as having your own space. I’m excited about finally having our own space and can’t wait to move in and start decorating/make it feel like home!

Today I want to share 2 tips that I’ve picked up thanks to moving around so much, and hopefully these tips will help you with your future moves as well!

Stay organized:

I used to just put everything in boxes until they’re full and tape them up, after so many times of not able to find what I needed before I finished unpacking (especially when I’m in a hurry), I’ve decided it’s time to come up with a system to help me keep track of everything.  Not only do I number each boxes and write down the general categories packed in it, I started listing the individual items in the boxes.  I find this especially helpful when it comes to things that are seasonal like shoes and clothes, as I know exactly which box I need to unpack first and which one can go into storage for another 6 months.  It’s also helpful when you are looking for a specific item because it helps you narrow down the search area.

On top of writing the items down and making a list, I also color code them by groups – things that stay upstairs in the living area and things that are downstairs in the storage. I know this seems a little excessive and slightly ridiculous, but sometimes things aren’t perfect and you have to shove a few pairs of sandals in your winter shoes box, and when you take out one item from the box but put the rest downstairs, it could get confusing when you are looking for something on the list thinking they’re still in storage when they’re actually somewhere in your room.  I also do this because I like filling up my to do list in my notebook and make everything look organized, this is definitely not an everyday thing, but I feel that occasionally I can get a little OCD when it comes to organizing, haha.

I thought I did a pretty good job getting rid of the things I no longer need when I moved from Atlanta to DC, but when it’s time to move again I still found a lot of stuff I don’t need… It feels like a never ending purging game. I was not the best at keeping everything minimal, I like having options and I like to shop. I think starting the Capsule Wardrobe challenge really helped me a lot when it comes to limiting myself and gaining self control. I now think twice if not three times before purchasing an item, I sit on it for weeks before deciding if I really need it. But I don’t think that’s enough yet, as I still have so many things in my “storage” that I no longer wear/need that are just sitting there taking up space.

When packing for this most recent move, I sorted out 2 more bags of clothes to donate on top of what I already donated and sold online, and have now limit down my winter clothing to one box (not including jackets) and spring/fall to another. I don’t have a lot of summer clothes other than a few tank tops and short sleeves tees, this is definitely a closet that’s lacking some love, which I’m hoping I’ll be able to add a few quality pieces this season and replace some old beat up target tees I’ve had for years.  I’m also considering enforcing the one in one out policy for everything, I’ve already started doing so for my shoes but I think there are still room for improvement in the other categories as well.  The closet purge/improvement process is going to take a while, but I am confident and excited because I’m seeing progress and think I’m heading in the right direction. I can’t wait to streamline my closet even more!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2015

It’s that time of the year again, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is officially upon us! Early Access started last week and today the sale is officially open to everyone! I already got the Jo Malone set during the Early Access Sale, but still have a long list of things on my wish list. Below are some of my picks that I’m currently lusting over. Happy shopping everyone!

  1. Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey Collection
I’ve been wanting to get a Jo Malone Perfume but couldn’t for the life of me make up my mind. When I tried this set in store, I immediately fell in love with the scent, but I didn’t purchase it on the spot because I wanted to make sure I’ll still love it overtime. I took home the little paper I sprayed it on and left it on the end table by my bed, after a few days I can still smell the lovely scent when I lay in bed and I still love it just as much as when I first smelled it fresh out of the bottle, I knew then that it was the one.
  2. Voluspa Maison Jardin Two Wick Tin Candle Trio
This candle set was recommended to me by the Nordstrom lady that walked me through the Early Access Sale section. I’ve always found their packaging adorable, but never smelled them before. There are 2 sets available during this sale and each comes with their own scent family. My personal favorite is the floral scent set, as it’s not harsh on the nose and smells very comforting to me, but both are lovely and the tins would be a great addition to your home/apartment decor.
  3. Bobbi Brown Brush Set
As any makeup lovers would tell you, Bobbi Brown have amazing brushes. This set includes one of the most coveted brushes – Full Coverage Face Brush, along with 4 other brushes is truly a steal (all full size, amazing). For those of you who’s been wanting to try out her brushes but couldn’t justify the hefty price tag, this is definitely the best bang for your buck set.
  4. Tom Ford Lips & Boys Set
Feel like splurging on some lipsticks? This is a gorgeous set with 3 different beautiful shades. I’ve actually never owned a Tom Ford lipstick and personally would like to try them since I’ve heard so many good things about them. This set is a great value especially if you don’t have the colors included in the set already. Great for those who’re just beginning their Tom Ford journey.
  5. Vince Camuto Maves Bootie
Booties will forever be my favorite style shoes to wear. I love this light taupe color and also think the pull on style could be nice (although depending on the shoes). But like all shoes, I would say always try it on first before committing. Good thing that Nordstrom has amazing return policy, so if you can’t find your size in store, you can always order them and try them on at home.
  6. Louise et Cie Zalia Ankle Bootie
A pair of very polished, put together black booties is a must for all girls. I love how clean and simple the design is, making it the perfect pair of boots to go with every outfit from office to a night out.
  7. Franco Sarto Linden Leather Bootie
A more casual pair of black booties with wood tone heels. Unlike the all black booties which looks more serious and edgy, this pair would work best with more causal, everyday outfits. This style comes in 3 different colors, I also really like the brown pair which reminds me a lot of the Hudson Horrigan booties.
  8. Treasure & Bond Catalina Mid Engineer Boot
Remember a long time ago I mentioned that my go to pair of flat, pull on booties is on its way out? Well I still have yet to find another pair to replace it. Nothing I’ve seen or tried on makes me feel comfortable enough to replace them, and now the inner lining is seriously hanging on by a thread… This pair reminds me a lot of them, with a little extra bling added on. I think I’ll have to try them on in person before I can decide if they would be good enough to replace my old ones. But style wise they’re definitely close!
  9. Rebecca Minkoff Lexi Bucket Bag
I had a thing for bucket bags a few months ago, but never was able to justify buying one because, honestly it’s just not a style I think will work well for me. I like to have my things very organized (or as organized as possible) in my bag, compartments and a more structure style is definitely my favorite. But I do really love the look of bucket bags and think they’re so great for adding something different to an outfit, this Rebecca Minkoff one is so cute and comes in 3 different colors for girls with different style! Definitely a great deal and gorgeous bag to snag up if you’re in the market for a nice bucket bag. That being said, I still don’t think I would get one, as I’ve made a deal with myself that the next bag I get would be one I’ll use for years, and bucket bag is probably not the style I would want…

Nordstrom Bonus Points Event – May 2015

Today is the start of the second bonus points event at Nordstrom this year!  It’s the perfect time for the Nordstrom card holders to get items that are never on sale (because you get extra points for rewards which is kind of like the item being on sale, right?), some of the things you’ve been eyeing, or restock on some of the items that are running low.  I plan on taking full advantage of this event as there are a few things I’ve been wanting to get and some everyday items I need to restock.  Below are some items that are on my wish list or shopping cart!  Need some serious self control to not go over budget now…

bonus point may 2015

  1. Jo Malone
Everything about Jo Malone!  The packaging is beautiful and the scents are delicious.  I’ve been wanting to get something from Jo Malone for a long time but just can’t make up my mind on which scent I want to purchase yet., since the price tag is slightly on the hefty side I’m definitely going to take my time and figure out which one is right for me before purchasing (though it’s been months now and I still can’t decide…).
  2. MAC Lip Pencil in Soar
The famous lip pencil for Kylie Jenner’s lips.  I’m not sure if I’ll ever bother to do lip pencil on a daily basis, but every once in a while it is nice to add a little oomph to my pout.  I think it’s definitely worth a try to see what all the hype is about.
  3. TOMS Majorca Suede Bootie
I’m in love with these booties!  They’re on trend and will be perfect for spring, summer and even fall.  And since they’re TOMS you know you’re helping a good cause while making your outfit look good, not to mention they’re famous for being comfortable!  Also apparently Nordstrom sales these socks for peep toes shoes which looks really interesting and might be worth investigating.  I’ve always wonder how to deal with wearing boots with no socks… Now problem solved!
  4. Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Iconic Nude
Another lip pencil, this one got my attention because of heyclaire‘s video (shocking I know).  I’m obsessed with everything about her, so naturally I’m interested in the products she likes.  I don’t think I’ll need 2 new lip pencils, so if I do purchase one I’ll have to seriously think about which one to go with.
  5. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow
This little gem has been on my mind for a realllllly long time, but I haven’t been able to justify buying it since I already have a few contouring products and I don’t do contour that often.  But all the reviews and rave about this product makes me want to try it so badly!
  6. Aveda Pure Abundance range
I love the 2 Aveda products I have (damage remedy daily hair repair and the color conserve daily color protect) and use them religiously.  When I was running low on my shampoo and conditioner, I started considering buying a nicer replacement for my current drug store ones.  I’ve always wanted a fuller head of hair and have been looking at different brands like living proof or bumble and bumble for a solution, but nothing really strikes my fancy and most of the reviews are mixed.  So when I was reading about the good reviews on the Pure Abundance range by Aveda, I thought it would be a good one to start with since I love all the product I’ve used from them and trust the quality and consistency of the brand.

The wish list: Lou & Grey Spring 2015

Every time Lou & Grey comes out with their new items for each season, I can’t help but make mental notes of which ones I wish I had in my wardrobe (or which ones I would like to add… hint hint).  There are a lot of color options for this season but also a lot of great basics as well.  See what I’ve picked out for my wish list this spring!

lou and grey wishlist 15 spring

  1. Lou & Grey Shadowstripe Tunic
A tank top with a higher neckline gives it a less casual look.  This will be perfect as a piece that can transition from work to play with a simple action of taking your cardigan off or switching into jeans or a skirt.
  2. Lou & Grey Windowpane Trim Tee
I’m in love with this tee.  I’ve been wanting to add a windowpane pattern shirt to my wardrobe, but every time I see one I felt the pattern was too busy and not as basic as I would like it to be.  When I saw this shirt, I knew this would be the perfect one!  I love the balance of pattern and solid color, and the mesh on the shoulder also adds a little sexiness to it.
  3. Lou & Grey Anorak Vest
Vests are a great layering piece.  I have my go to J.Crew vest for the winter, and I think this would act as a perfect counter part for spring to add a little dimension to your outfits.
  4. Lou & Grey Denim Jacket
This season it’s all about denim jacket.  It is to spring as a leather jacket is to fall and winter.  I’m a little hesitant on getting one as I don’t really know how practical it is for office wear, but it is definitely something I’m interested in exploring.
  5. Lou & Grey Piqueplay Tee
I love the not so basic basics from Lou & Grey.  This shirt is very straight forward and simple but at the same time it is not your typical plain shirt.  It has a subtle front panel that is made of a different material of the body, giving it an interesting play on texture.
  6. Lou & Grey Spacedye Maxi Dress
Another higher neckline item.  I didn’t really like the look of this type of neckline when I was younger because I thought it felt restricting and is not as cool (temperature wise) when wearing, but now that I’m revisiting it I think it adds a more sophisticated look to the dress and will make it more appropriate to wear in different occasions.
  7. Lou & Grey Duo Tee
2 in 1 shirts were my favorite in middle school!  Remember the fake long sleeve under short sleeve shirt look?  I was very resisting to this type of shirts for a while because it reminds me of my… not so stylish days, but after seeing this particular one I’ve become more open to the idea as it looks so effortless but at the same time put together.  Another not so basic basic.
  8. Lou & Grey Duo Skirt
The counter part of the duo tee, I like the duo material on the skirt because the semi sheer material on the bottom makes it look sexy but not revealing.  The length of the skirt is also appropriate for work but the sheer will make it a good transitional piece for happy hour or going out.

Mini guide to poshmark

After trying out different selling apps and being active on Poshmark for a few months, I can say that this is definitely my app of choice when it comes to selling second hand clothing.  Although they take 20% of your sale which is a lot compare to some of it counterparts, I like the platform and how they display the images more so I decided to stay with it.  I also like how you can share your own listings or listings of others on Poshmark, it is a great way to interact with other sellers/buyers and help promote your items.  It is like a marketplace with social media integrated into it (they even have a blog you can follow!).

Below is a mini guide to Poshmark for those of you that want to start selling via apps or online but are hesitant!  It is actually really fun and I hope this helps introduce you to one of the many apps out there and get an idea of what it is all about.

The top bar:

top bar

On the top, you can find all sorts of shortcuts to different things.  Feed is where you can see the listings shared by the people you follow.  Shop is where you can find a list of brands in alphabetical order, so it makes it easier to search when you’re looking for something in particular.  Sell is a function that can only be used on the mobile app for now, it is what you use to create a listing and sell, on the mobile app you’ll get to add pictures, descriptions, category and price for your listing.

Party is something a little different, and is one of the things I really like about Poshmark!  Everyday on Poshmark, there will be 3 parties.  The first one of the day starts at 12pm EST and another at 3pm EST, these 2 are the more generic ones where you can share listings that match the brands or categories of the party.  The last one starts at 10pm EST, it is theme oriented and there will be actual “hosts” hosting the party (hosts are poshers picked by Poshmark, so they’re usually different hosts for every party), this one is where your item will have the chance to get “host pick” which means the hosts will share your items and they will appear in a special section in the party page, the items that are picked will usually get a lot of exposures and shares from other poshers.  It is a good way to sell and also a good way to shop for items because all the items in the host pick page have already been filtered and selected by the hosts.

Home page:

feed page

When you first sign on, you will see your home page that displays listings shared by the people you follow, it could be their own listings or listings of other people.  You then have the option to share or like the listings you see.  Sharing a listing from another posher’s closet will give them a notification saying that you’ve shared their listing(s), which usually they will help share yours with their followers (it’s kind of a you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours).  Liking a listing will save it to your “liked” list, which you can come back to it later should you decide to purchase.  On the side you can also see a list of brands that you’ve recently searched for, this is a helpful little shortcut so you can just go to what you’re interested in instead of go through the whole list of brands.

Closet page:

closet page

Your closet page is where all your listings are showcased.  When you share a listing of your own, it’ll automatically put it at the top of your closet so you can refresh, change the layout and how your listings are organized accordingly.  On the very top it will be a little area for you to put up some info about yourself, some sellers will list if they do trades or bundles on top, for me I just kept it simple – Where I’m located and my instagram account.  On the right side is a list of brands you follow, so when people visit your closet they can see what you’re interested in, and maybe discover a brand or 2 they’ve never heard of.

Are you trying to sell some of the items in your closet to make more room or just pair down?  There are so many apps out there to help you do that!  Poshmark is my personal preference, but you should definitely explore and shop around all the possibilities out there, as one app might work well for some but not others.  Hope this was helpful, and please share your thoughts as I would love to hear about your experiences on selling online using different tools and platforms!
