“Capsule Wardrobe” challenge

Recently I stumble upon a blog I just can’t get enough of: Un-Fancy by Caroline!  Not only do I absolute love her style, her capsule wardrobe posts are so inspiring and is a great concept for people that don’t have unlimited budget to shop everyday/week/month.  I’ve been reading though her posts and it made me think… Why not do it myself too?  It is a great way to challenge myself to have self control and limit impulse buys of things I don’t really need, which I think would be very beneficial for me and my bank account!

Since we’re 2 month into the summer season already for me nstead of doing July-September like her, I will be moving my seasons up a month because I really don’t think I can handle DC December with just my fall wardrobe), I will be skipping summer and go straight into prepping for my fall capsule wardrobe so I will be ready when the end of September rolls around!  I’m very excited and super nervous about this challenge because y’all know how much I like to shop… I hope I can hold up to the bargain and keep it up!  For those of you that are interested in doing the capsule wardrobe challenge, you can check out more details about how to do it here.  You can also get a sense of how a well planned and thought out small wardrobe can create a variety of great outfits by visiting her blog!

  1. Interested to see how this goes. When I culled out a ton of stuff from my wardrobe last year I narrowed it allll down to around 200 pieces, including coats, tanks, shorts, bag, shoes – Which makes me think that 37 pieces a season is VERY doable!

It definitely makes getting dressed easier to fake capsule wardrobes, at any rate – I’ll put my favorite stuff in one wardrobe, and out of season and less-worn stuff in another closet, and grab it if I need it… But so far that’s been rare – mostly weddings, odd spells of weather, etc. Yay for simplifying life!

    1. I already got rid of a ton of stuff I haven’t wore in the past year when I moved from ATL to DC, but I still think there are more stuff I could eliminate since there’s one drawer in my dresser I never really open. Hopefully this will help me get rid of more “I might wear it one day” stuff that I really just won’t wear ever again haha.

  2. Please permit me to know if you’re looking for a writer for your site.

You have some really good articles and I think I would be a
good asset. If you did you ever want to take some of
the load off, I’d really like to write some content for your blog in exchange for a link back to mine.
Please send me an e-mail if interested. Thanks!
